Web & E-mail Hosting FAQ's

Q: How do I configure e-mail accounts for my domain?
A: To configure e-mail accounts for your domain simply go to the mail administration page available at https://mailadmin.bdhtek.com/cgi-bin/qmailadmin/. For user account enter postmaster. For the domain name, enter the domain you are hosting with us. For the password use the password that we gave you (should be the same password as your FTP account).

Q: How do I use the mail administration page?
A: The mail administration page should be fairly straightforward. If you have problems we do have a general manual available here.

Q: How do I configure my e-mail client (Outlook or Outlook Express) to download my e-mail?
A: We have created a tutorial that shows you how to configure either Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Outlook Express to download your e-mail.

Q: How do I change my e-mail password?
A: To change your e-mail password simply log in to the webmail interface available at: https://webmail.bdhtek.com/ using your current username and password. Once you have logged in click the Options link at the top of the page. On the options page look down towards the bottom and select Change Password. On the Change Password page enter you current password, then enter your new password twice and press submit. Note: Password must be at least 5 characters long, and cannot contain any portion of your username.  If it was successful you will see the message 'Password changed successfully'.  Next time you log in use your new username and password.  If you are using Outlook Express or Outlook to download your e-mail make sure that you update the password there as well.

Q: How often are my e-mail messages and web site files backed up?
A: Our hosted e-mail is backed up every 5 minutes and our hosted web sites are backed up every hour to a server in another location.  That means that if one server goes down the backup server can be up in running in a matter of minutes without any major data loss, a benefit you won't find with any other company.

Q: What sort of spam/virus protection do you provide?
A: We have two different levels of spam/virus scanning.
Our advanced spam/virus filtering product uses industry leading technology to provide a robust, bi-directional, highly accurate antispam and antimalware solution, to detect the most sophisticated targeted attacks. The Technology behind the service has won 20 consecutive VBSpam Platinum awards for recognition of some of the highest catch rates and lowest false positive rates in the industry.  For more information on the advanced service please click here.
Our basic service uses a free spam scanner called SpamAssassin, and a free virus scanner called ClamAV.  Both of which work very well at detecting spam/viruses.  We also use advanced Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to scan images for spam & viruses.

Q: How do you use the advanced spam/virus filtering page?
A: We have a usage page available here that covers all of the available options.

Q: Can messages that are marked as spam be deleted automatically?
A: The short answer is yes.  Whether or not it is a good idea is a different topic altogether.  While our spam scanner is very efficient, it can never be 100% effective.  Therefore some messages may be false positives (messages incorrectly marked as spam).  If you aren't worried about the possibility of losing a few valid emails from time to time contact us and we will set it up so that any messages marked as spam are automatically deleted for you.

Q: How do I check my web site's statistics?
A: To check your web site statistics just go append the word 'stats' to the end of your web site.  For example if your web site is www.domain.com, just go to www.domain.com/stats/.

Q: Can I set an out of office/vacation auto-reply message?
A: Yes.  You can login in to the webmail page available at https://webmail.bdhtek.com/ using your e-mail address and password.  Then click on the settings link.  On the next page make sure Preferences are selected in the left column, then select 'Vacation Message' in the middle column/section.  Check the box for 'auto-responder enabled' and then you can specify the subject and message that will be sent when you receive a new message.
